Cathy Joanne Schadt Nurkala, 60, was born on May 12, 1965 and died on June 7, 2025. Cathy was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida. She is preceded in death by her father, Danny Schadt.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Daniel Nurkala; mother, Marie Schadt; sister, Jeanne Farnsley (Greg); brothers, Steve Schadt (Dianne) and Scott Schadt (Michelle); and sister in-law, Suzanne Hopkins (Dale). Cathy is also survived by seven nieces and nephews and their significant others, as well as six great-nieces and great-nephews.

Cathy graduated from Florida State University with a BS in Psychology in 1987 and a BBSN in Nursing in 1991. She worked for 33 years at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital as a RN Patient Educator and Certified Lactation Consultant. Cathy also worked for 28 years as a RN Patient Educator and Certified Lactation Consultant at AdventHealth Tampa. Cathy loved working with expectant couples at both hospitals, teaching childbirth preparation, breastfeeding and baby care classes.

She enjoyed travelling with her husband, Daniel and crafting with her mom and sister.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Blount & Curry FH-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618. A Funeral Mass will occur Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 10110 N Central Ave, Tampa, FL 33612.
